Round bronze ding, Southern China, 771 BC-475 BC. The legs of this ding (three-legged round bronze vessel) made during the Spring and Autumn period are hollow from the back, and are sharp, outcurving and pointed. The piece would have been cast in three sections as shown by the base. The interior surfaces of the handles are decorated with two confronted snakes cast in low relief. The body is cast with a band of stylised birds' heads joined together.
