Pair of jade chickens with floral sprays in their mouths, early Ming dynasty, China, 1368-1499. A group of two chickens, their feathers, eyes, ears and feet are carefully worked. Each bird holds a floral spray. Animals or birds with floral sprays were a common subject for jade animals from the Tang dynasty on.
