Stylised jade pig, Han dynasty, China, 206 BC-220. A plain stylised jade pig, the jade is of glassy pale celadon green colour. The cutting has been very powerfully done in 8-cut style with some minor earth inclusions. This type of object was called 'Zhuwo' and would have been placed in the hands of the deceased to ward off malign forces.
