Jade bird of prey, Song dynasty, China, 960-1279. A jade bird of prey of pale celadon green colour with deep reddish suffusions. The eyes and feet (with claws retracted) are very well and naturalistically rendered in relief. The underside is plain, the top is incised with feathers.
