Reticulated jade oval box with goats, qilin and plantain, late Ming-early Qing dynasty, China, 17th century. An unusual reticulated perfume box of elongated form. One side is carved and pierced with a fantastic beast, probably a qilin, with dense scrolling foliage in the backround. The other half has two goats on a smilar ground but with plantain in the background, all within plain, rounded borders, pierced through both halves for stringing
