Jade group of lion dog, cub and brocade ball, Ming dynasty, China, 1368-1644. A large jade group of two Buddhist lion dogs (one adult, the other a cub) playing with a brocade ball. The piece is very well carved, with feet with prominent claws, beetling eyebrows with curls and flames above the eyes, the spines prominent with detailed carving of hair and tails, and the hocks well done.
