Blue and white 'hole in the bottom' bowl with hibiscus scroll, Ming dynasty, China, 15th century. A blue and white bowl with recessed so-called 'hole in the bottom' base. The interior is painted with a stylized flower with swirling petals within two parallel lines with an outer band of overlapping trefoil lappets. The outside has an undulating hibiscus scroll with four flower heads and spiky leaves in groups of three.
