Dehua kendi, Yuan dynasty, China, 1279-1368. A Dehua kendi crisply moulded on the steeply angled sides with two knobbed classic scrolls above and below the projecting centre ridge enclosed by two collars of over-lapping petals around the foot and at the base of the banded trumpet neck. The straight spout is applied high on the shoulder and incised with two rings at the tip. The chalky white ware is covered with a crackled transparent glaze of 'Yingqing' type lightly tinged with greenish blue.
