Jizhou tortoise-shell glazed tripod censer, Southern Song dynasty, China, 1127-1279. A rare Jizhou tortoise-shell glazed tripod censer from Jiangxi province. The globular body stands on three circular feet and rises to a short straight neck with an everted rim. The pale buff body is covered by a matted glaze of dark brown with greenish amber splashes.
