Carved Cizhou bowl with goose, Northern Song dynasty, China, 11th century. An unusual Cizhou bowl carved through the white slip with a design of a goose or duck amid waves and two sagittarius leaves in style taken from Ding or Yaozhou models. The bowl is covered by a transparent glaze. The body is slightly grey. The bowl has a well formed, rather square foot.
