Squared celadon glazed bottle with carved birds and flowers, late Ming dynasty, China, early 17th century. A carved celadon bottle of upright rectangular form with chain-faced cut-off corners. The stoutly potted sides are each freely carved with different panels of crane and lotus. The broad shoulders have stylised overlapping petals in relief radiating from the base of the short cylindrical neck. The glassy light green celadon glaze is evenly crackled overall.
