Dehua incense burner with rust-red glaze, late Ming dynasty, China, early 17th century. An incense burner of squat circular bombe shape from Fujian province. There is a narrow rim out-turned almost at right angles with two small lions head masks on either side. The white Dehua body is covered with a rust-red coloured iron oxide glaze possibly intended to imitate gold splashed bronze.
