Doucai saucer, Qing dynasty, late Kangxi China, 1700-1722. Small doucai flat-bottomed saucer dish with straight slightly flared sides. The interior is decorated with two orange four-clawed dragons (head to tail) in rouge de fer enamels with green tails and manes amid clouds contending over a flaming pearl. The borders are of double line and ruyi heads. The exterior is decorated with waves and curling heads. The base has a six-character Chenghua mark in underglaze blue within a double lined circle although the piece dates to the late Kangxi period.
