Qingbai copying Ding flat-bottom dish, Late Northern Song-Southern Song dynasty, China, 12th century. Qingbai flat-bottom dish without footrim. There is moulded decoration and the piece was fired on its rim which has been copper bound in imitation of Ding yao. The centre is decorated with egrets in a lotus pond, the water shown as swirls. The straight slightly flaring concave sides are decorated with two confronted rows of ruyi heads under a narrow band of key fret design. The glaze is of a creamy white much like contemporary Ding glazes.
