Blue and white bowl with song birds, Qing dynasty, late Kangxi-early Yongzhong period, China, c1720-1725. A small flat-bottomed blue and white bowl. The piece is painted in the central interior with a lobed quatrefoil emblem (vajra) with several Tibetan or Lakca script characters around it. The exterior has two groups of pairs of song birds perched on flowering peach trees and in flight. The whole piece is executed after a Chenghua imperial original. The concave base has a six character Chenghua mark, but the piece dates to the late Kangxi/early Yongzheng period.
