Wucai kendi with dragons, Qing dynasty, early Kangxi period, China, 1662-1683. A kendi with long tapering neck and garlic-shaped top with knobbed cover and long plain globular spout. The body is decorated in wucai enamels with dragons over waves chasing flaming pearls. There is a band of ruyi heads around the base of the spout. The base has a single lingzhi fungus mark in underglaze blue. The kendi shape was a popular export item for centuries with destinations all over the Muslim world.
