Kraak blue and white basin, Late Ming dynasty, China, c1600-1620. A Kraak basin of klapmuts form. The dish is decorated in the centre with pomegranates, leaf and tasselled flywhisks beneath a wide panelled border of alternating monster masks and diaper patterns above lobed medallions of peach sprays or emblems. The reverse has a sectioned border with stylized, lobed medallions beneath a continuous border with three stylized flower sprays.
