Gilt copper monk, Tibet, 16th century. A gilt copper portrait figure of a monk, inscribed Gyalwamupah, seated with his legs enveloped in his robe on a circular lotus throne. There is a thick single band of petals extrending all the way round the piece. The monk's head is uncovered, his right hand is raised with the fourth finger and thumb touching. The robe and its border are finely decorated with incised floral sprays interspersed with single flower heads.
