Gilt bronze itinerant monk with sutra case, Tibet, 17th-18th century. A gilt bronze figure of a seated itinerant monk with sutra case on his back. Monks are known to have wandered from monastery to monastery carrying sutras with them. The monk is wearing garments with decorated borders and has his hair tied in a top knot. The seat has incised patterns simulating grasses.
