Gilt bronze Avalokitesvara, Sui dynasty, China, 581-618 AD. A small gilt bronze figure of Avalokitesvara, with flame mandorla surmounted by the image of Amitabha Buddha behind his head. The figure is standing on a square four-legged pedestal, the front two legs of which are joined by a bar and the back two are free standing.
