Bronze quadrafoil fitting, Tang to Northern Song dynasty, China, 8th-11th century. A bronze quadrafoil reticulated fitting, probably a belt buckle, with a leaping lion-dog. The animal's nose is in the air, its tail is held up and there is a lotus flower spray in its mouth, the flower head appearing underneath its neck. The body has a scale like pattern.
