Bronze cormorant with a fish in its beak, Eastern Han dynasty, China, 25-220. A bronze cormorant with fronds extending from head to tail. The beak is open and consuming a fish. Cormorants were, and still are, used for fishing. A collar is put around the bird's neck to stop it swallowing the fish and they are trained to bring the fish back.
