'Southwark Fair', 1733. A crowd is enjoying the festivities in Borough High Street, near St George the Martyr, Southwark, London. Among the figures are a group of actors falling from a stage to the left, a man on a tight-rope behind, a performing dog and musicians in the foreground. The fair was held for two weeks in September, and was abolished in 1762.
