View of London from the south, 1643. View towards Westminster and the City of London across the River Thames from Southwark. The view extends on the north side of the river from Whitehall, including old St Paul's Cathedral, London Bridge with houses on it, to the Tower of London in the east. Southwark Cathedral stands on the near bank by the bridge. The royal coat of arms surmounted by a crown is shown, with a title in French describing London as the capital of the kingdom of England.
