'Field Marshall the Earl Haig', 1920. Portrait of Sir Douglas Haig in uniform, with a grey cape or coat, his military cap on the table. He has a moustache and is shown almost in profile, looking off into the distance. Commander of the British forces during World War I, he was also known as 'Butcher Haig' as he sent thousands of soldiers needlessly to their deaths.
