'Water Cresses, come buy my Water Cresses'. An old man stands at the door of a brothel at the corner of Portland Street, with two prostitutes leaning out of a first floor window. He scowls at a woman who is holding out a bunch of watercress to him. A small girl also offers him a bunch. Plate V of Cries of London, 1799.
