St Front Cathedral, Perigueux, Dordogne, France. The Cathedral of St Front dates from the12th century. Unusually for French cathedrals the church is laid out to the plan of a Greek Cross. The architectural style of the building with its domes is evocative of Byzantine churches. The cathedral suffered at the hands of the Protestants during France's Wars of Religion in the 16th century and was extensively restored in the 19th century.
