Wharram Percy, North Yorkshire. Wharram Percy is a deserted medieval village in the Yorkshire Wolds. It is thought that the village became deserted early in the 16th century when the local landowner evicted the residents and demolished their homes to make room for pasture for sheep and take advantage of rising wool prices. Today only the ruins of the village church remain above ground.
