Letter from William Ewart Gladstone to Anthony Panizzi, 29th November 1856. Letter written from Hawarden, with reference to Panizzi's (afterwards Sir Anthony Panizzi, Principal Librarian of the British Museum) criticisms on Gladstone's comparison between Homer and Tasso in his article 'Homer and his Successors in Epic Poetry', published in the Quarterly Review for January 1857, and explaining his ideas of the principles which should govern foreign policy.
