Letter from Henry Fielding to Hutton Perkins, 25th November 1750. Letter, written from Bow Street in Fielding's capacity of police-magistrate, between the dates of the publication of Tom Jones (1749) and Amelia (1751) to Hutton Perkins, a lawyer, on the subject of an anonymous communication to the Earl of Hardwicke, Lord Chancellor, warning him that a plot had been formed against his life by three keepers of gaming houses which had lately been closed, as they thought, by his orders. From the fifth series of Facsimiles of royal, historical, literary and other autographs in the Department of Manuscripts, British Museum: Series I-V, (London, 1899).
