Letter from Emperor Charles V of Spain to Queen Mary of England, 1555. Letter in French from Charles V to Mary I, his daughter-in-law, expressing the desire to see his son King Philip, her husband, in order to consult with him on the state of affairs, with regret for the nesessity of depriving her of his company and hope for her speedy return. Philip left England for Brussels at the end of August, 1555 and returned for a few months in March 1557, having in the interval succeeded to the throne of Spain by the abdication of Charles on 15th January 1556.
