William Quiller Orchardson, artist and Royal Academician, 1882. Born in Scotland, Orchardson (1832-1910) was a subject and portrait painter who moved to London in 1862. He is best known for his depictions of upper class society in the 18th century and Regency periods. He became a Royal Academician in 1877.
