The Reverend Henry Parry Liddon, Canon of St Paul's Cathedral, London, 1881. Liddon (1829-1890) was appointed Canon of St Paul's in 1870. He enjoyed a reputation as a magnificent orator; his afternoon sermons in the Cathedral had to be moved from the choir to beneath the dome, as they attracted audiences of up to 4000 listeners. From Men of Mark: a gallery of contemporary portraits of men distinguished in the Senate, the Church, in science, literature and art, the army, navy, law, medicine, etc. Photographed from life by Lock and Whitfield, with brief biographical notices by Thompson Cooper.
