Bicycle taxis in the Place d'Etoile by the Arc de Triomphe, German-occupied Paris, August 1943. Petrol was in short supply during the occupation and what was available went to the Germans. As a consequence the bicycle taxi, or taxi-velo, was a common sight on the streets of Paris.
