French Foreign Legion monument, Sontay, Vietnam, 20th century. The French Foreign Legion saw action in what is now Vietnam in 1883 during the campaign against the Chinese Black Flag militia in Indo-China and in 1884-1885 in the ensuing Franco-Chinese War. The memorial is dedicated to the Legionnaires killed in the conflict. French postcard.
