Ancient Egyptian canopic jar with a lid in the shape of a royal woman's head, c1352-1336 BC. It is thought that the woman portrayed on the lid of this jar is Kiya, the secondary queen of the pharaoh Akhenaten. Canopic jars were used by the Ancient Egyptians to store a deceased person's internal organs after they were removed from the body prior to its mummification.
