'Bretagne' French dreadnought of 25,000 Tons, c1915-1940. Built at Brest between 1912 and 1915, the Bretagne served in the Mediterranean in both world wars. She was one of the ships sunk by the British at Mers-el-Kebir in 1940 to stop the French fleet falling into the hands of the Germans. From the Bernard Crochet Archive.
