King Arthur, 16th century, (1903). Bronze statue made in the 16th century, of the mythical king, said by some to have been born in the 5th century AD. Some theories make him a leader of Silures, an area of ancient Britain occupying what is now Monmouth, Brecon and Glamorgan in Wales. Illustration from 'The World's History, A Survey of Man's Record, by Dr H F Helmolt, published by William Heinemann, (London, 1903).
