God's Providence House, Chester, c1920s. During an outbreak of the plague during the 17th century, it is said that not a house in the city was spared except for this one in Watergate Street. Although rebuilt in 1862, it carries a beam from the original building inscribed God's Providence is Mine Inheritance. Cigarette card produced by the Westminster Tobacco Co Ltd, The second series of British royal and ancient buildings.
