'Hudibras in the Stocks', 1850. A scene taken from the three-part mock-heroic satire Sir Hudibras by Samuel Butler. Sir Hudibras, a Presbyterian knight, is the main character which also features the sectarian Squire Ralpho. In the manner of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, they set out on a journey by horseback and suffer several bizarre adventures on the way.
