Black lacquer shallow round saucer, Qing dynasty, China, late 18th-early 19th century. A black lacquer saucer with gold landscape decoration and basketwork reverse The straight sides of the reverse are built up of plain close-weaved basketwork. The front is painted with a land and sea-scape of pavilion, figures and islands in roughly drawn gold lacquer. The cavetto has daisy-type flowers in ogival cartouches.
