Ivory bird cage fitting, Qing dynasty, China, 1644-1911. An ivory bird cage fitting of long narrow tapering shape. The piece is carved with a sampan containing four figures moored at a river bank under a willow tree. Another figure is shown with a basket on the river bank by a rock and tree. The piece is pierced for insertion of the bars of the birdcage.
