Gilt-bronze applique, Northern or Eastern Wei dynasty, China, 386-550. A gilt-bronze applique of makara-type dragon with lotus floral spray issuing from the mouth. On one flower of the lotus stands in upright pose an Avalokitesvara with mandorla, a protrusion pierced for affixation to a gilt bronze group.
