The Buddha is shown with his hands one on top of the other with palms facing upwards in the dhyanamudra (gesture of meditation). The cloth has elaborate incised folds, the toggle and bracelet are very prominent, the petals of the lotus throne extend round the front only and are elaborately formed. The head has tightly twisted curls. The plain reverse of the lotus throne has a long inscription which includes the date 1533-34. There are traces of gilding on top of lacquer overall.
