Thomas Clarkson, English politician and anti-slavery campaigner, 19th century. Clarkson (1760-1846) was a prominent campaigner for the abolition of slavery in the British Empire. After the passing of the British antislavery laws in 1807), he wrote History of the abolition of the African slave trade (1808).
