A French Catholic priest, St Vincent de Paul (c1580-1660) was captured by Turkish pirates and sold into slavery in Tunis, but gained his freedom after converting his master to Christianity. Published in Butler's Lives of the Saints, DIV 5, by the Rev Alban Butler, London & Dublin, 1886.
