Sir George Alexander (1858-1918), theatrical actor-manager, 1911-1912. Considered an avant-garde performer, Alexander spent some years in Henry Irving's company. He presented performances of Oscar Wilde's Lady Windermere's Fan (1892) and Pinero's The Second Mrs Tanqueray. From Penrose's Pictorial Annual 1911-1912, The Process Year Book, volume 17, edited by William Gamble and published by AW Penrose (London, 1911-1912).
