Johannes Kepler, German astronomer, (c1900). Portrait of Kepler with a total eclipse of the sun. Kepler (1571-1630) went to Prague in 1600 to assist Tycho Brahe. On Tycho's death the following year, Kepler succeeded him as court astronomer to Rudolph II. Trade card, one from a series on astronomers produced by Liebig extract of meat, (c1900).
