Bayezid II, Ottoman Emperor, (1808). Called 'Aldi' (the Just), Bayezid (c1447-1512) was Sultan from 1481-1512. His reign saw a policy of territiorial expansion, fighting wars against the Safavid Persians, the Mamluks in Egypt and the Venetians in the Peloponnese.
