Ramesses II at the Battle of Kadesh, 1275 BC (19th century). Rameses fought a great battle against the Hittites under Muwatallis at Kadesh in Syria. Although contemporary Egyptian depictions of the battle portray Rameses as defeating his enemies, historians generally agree that the outcome of the battle was inconclusive.
